Market Watch Update: 1982 FJ-45

At approximately 1:10 PM Mtn standard time the FJ-45 I featured previously hit the block at Mecum's Chicago auction. Clearly a very nice example however the audience wasn't interested. The bidding closed at a $35,000 bid. The owner didn't let it go and I understand where s/he is coming from. If I were looking for a retail number I would expect a sale from $45-50k. GLWS.

Spotted: 1988 FJ62 Land Cruiser

This FJ62 popped up on craigslist in Boise this morning and I had to check it out. The photos reveal original paint with some missing trim and blemishes. Most notably are the rear passenger side patch above the wheel. There is also some metal damage on the drivers front fender. With possible rust issues it is safe to say that this rig hasn't lived in Idaho its entire life. Notice the crank windows. When I inspected it, I noticed a few major issues. The original paint has been ruined by some spotty patch work. Not only was the passenger rear wheel [...]

Spotlight: 1995 FZJ80 TLC Stage 2

I feature a lot of Land Cruisers on this blog. Having owned almost every generation one is missing from my list. The 80 series. Growing up in the 90's the 80 series with a soccer mom behind the wheel was common sight. It was quickly looked over by the more powerful 5.9 liter Jeep Grand Cherokee or the ultimate soccer mom mobile, the Yukon. And I don't blame them. The 80 series was a slug, looked dated, and had a bland interior. Jonathan Ward at TLC must have agreed and picked up where Toyota left off with this rig. 1995 [...]

Spotlight: 2004 Duramax Suburban

Leave it to 'Merica to step in where others leave off. We all know Chevrolet didn't offer a Duramax turbo diesel in a suburban. If you wanted a 9 passenger hauler capable of towing the family camper, fishing boat, and an ATV trailer (A common sight in Idaho) you had no choice but to purchase an Excursion. Great if you are loyal to Ford, bad if you aren't. For those who aren't, here is an alternative. 2004 Duraburb for sale on Boise Craigslist The LBZ Chevy was offered in every pleasure possible; 1500, 2500, and 3500 short box, long box, medium box, regular cab, extended cab, [...]
